Meet Mark F. Deldin

Mark became chief deputy county executive for Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel’s administration in 2011 and is responsible for the daily management, coordination, direction and control of County departments, facilities, operations and services.

Mark F. Deldin began working in public education for Lake Shore Public Schools in 1975 and in 1995 joined Chippewa Valley Schools where he held a variety of administrative positions including executive director for human resources and assistant superintendent for business and operations. In 2004, the Board of Education appointed him as the eighth superintendent of Chippewa Valley Schools.  In 2011, he became chief deputy county executive for Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel’s administration.

As chief deputy county executive, Deldin is responsible for the daily management, coordination, direction and control of County departments, facilities, operations and services.  He also advises the County Executive on current projects, initiatives and the findings of completed projects.  In addition, he is responsible for oversight of a $600 million budget and 15 departments serving approximately 860,000 county residents.

Deldin received his bachelor of business administration degree from Davenport University.  He holds a master’s degree in administration with a major in human resources from Central Michigan University.  He also spent time at Saginaw Valley State University where he worked as an adjunct faculty member teaching courses in Educational Facilities Planning to educators who are working toward their master’s degree. He is a graduate of Leadership Macomb.

His professional affiliations have included: Michigan School Business Officials, Michigan Association of School Administrators, Macomb/St. Clair School Business Officials and the Macomb County Association of School Administrators. In 2007, he was appointed to the Executive Board of the Tri-County Alliance for Public Education and the Metropolitan Detroit Bureau of School Studies, Incorporated.  He has also served on an advisory panel for Children’s Hospital in Clinton Township and currently serves on the finance committee for McLaren-Macomb Hospital. He also serves on the Macomb County Employees’ Retirement System Pension Board.

Deldin, 59, a lifelong resident of Macomb County, is married to his wife Catherine and has two adult children and four grandchildren.
