Once you’ve verbally accepted an offer of employment, we need to get it in writing! If you haven’t already, you will receive the following documents from a Human Resources Consultant:

  • An offer letter
  • An authorization to conduct a background check

Action Needed:

  • Complete the background check authorization form and sign it
  • Sign the offer of employment letter
  • Send them both back to your Human Resources and Labor Relations Consultant so we can get started

You will receive a “Welcome to Macomb County!” email with the following information:

  • Date, time and location of your County orientation
  • A list of the documentation you must bring with you to orientation

Action Needed:

  • Gather the documents listed in the Welcome to Macomb County email. You will need to bring the following documents to orientation:
    • A valid driver’s license or state identification
    • Proof of valid personal auto insurance Your name must appear on the insurance documents. If your name is not listed on the certificate, you must bring the declarations page and/or the explanation of your policy, indicating you are a covered driver 
    • Identification and employment eligibility documents - We have to verify your identity and confirm you are eligible to work in the United States. Please see the last page of the I-9 document for acceptable types of identification. Per the Department of Homeland Security, we are obligated to review (physically see) the original documents, so we cannot accept copies
    • Social security card - Uncle Sam has strict rules, so we will need to see your original social security card to verify that we are entering your name onto our payroll records exactly as you are known to the IRS
    • Banking information for direct deposit - We’d like to pay you for your hard work. So please provide a voided check or a letter from your bank on their letterhead with your name, account number and routing number

You will receive an email with information on how to complete your new employee forms. This will include forms such as Employee Information, Emergency Contact form, and Direct Deposit, among other things. 

Action Needed: 

Complete your new employee forms prior to your scheduled orientation date.

Contact your Human Resources Consultant (HRC) or the department you will be working for information about where to report after orientation.

  • Contact your HRC or department to find out where to go after orientation
