401(a) retirement plan

Macomb County has a defined contribution 401(a) plan, with a generous employer match.

Employees hired after January 1, 2016, are automatically enrolled in a defined contribution 401(a) plan.  The required employee contribution is three percent of base wages. The County contributes six percent of base wages per pay period. for a total of a nine percent contribution to the plan.  Employees are vested after five years of service and, after five years, have the option to increase their contribution by one percent. If that option is elected, the employer will increase its contribution from six percent to eight percent, for a twelve percent contribution.  Please visit Macomb County Retirement Board and Retirement Services for more information.
