As July 4th approaches, people all over are hosting Independence Day celebrations. There have been a few festivities already, like the Center Line Independence Day Festival on June 4. But if you missed that one, don’t panic just yet. Macomb County has six more fireworks displays for you to attend!
The first one is during the 57th Annual Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival in downtown New Baltimore from June 22-26. To participate in carnival games and rides, you can go online before the event and purchase tickets for $20 each, plus a service fee (tickets upon arrival are $25). The fireworks in particular, however, don’t start until dusk on June 23. Don’t forget to bring something to sit on, you’re going to need it for comfortable viewing! The rain out date is Friday. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in Walter and Mary Burke Park where the fireworks will take place.
Next, there are three awesome fireworks happening on June 24! Shelby Township’s Independence Day Fireworks is one of the biggest shows in Michigan. Unlike last year, however, it will take place in Stony Creek Metropark, as the launch site at Ford Field Central Park is occupied. Due to this location change, the food truck rally will be canceled. If you plan to attend, make note that walking or biking into the park is free but the daily pass per vehicle is $10. You can also purchase an annual pass for $40 if you are a resident or $45 if you’re a non-resident. The City of St. Clair Shores Fireworks Extravaganza will be at Veterans Memorial Park off of Jefferson Ave. In order to attend, you’ll need a wristband that costs $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents when paid for in advance (available at the Civic Ice Arena). If you pay for them at the gate, however, it’s $5 for everyone. There is seating at the park, but it’s recommended that you bring your own chairs or blankets.
The last one taking place on June 24 is the Downtown Mount Clemens Independence Day Celebration that begins with a concert at 7:30 p.m. The best place to view the fireworks will be along the Clinton River waterfront. Seating is first-come first-serve, including boat well access. You can also view the fireworks from anywhere downtown as well, so not all is lost if you can’t find a spot by the water. All three of these fireworks displays will go off at dusk, or 10 p.m.
For those without plans on July 4, Youngblood Vineyard will be blasting off fireworks that night for their Red, White and BOOM! Fireworks at the Vineyard! celebration. Registration is free but still required. Unfortunately, admission is not guaranteed if their parking is full. Those attending should bring their own chairs, blankets and tents. Outside food and drink are allowed but pets are not permitted.
Lastly, Clinton Township will host their own fireworks show on July 6. There will be a plethora of free pre-show activities beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a concert around 8:30 p.m. Finally, the fireworks will shoot off after 10 p.m. For those planning to stay the whole evening, food truck vendors will be present for a quick bite to eat. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed. Plan to bring your own seating!
