Grant: Northern Industrial Manufacturing receives I.40 implementation grant

Northern Industrial Manufacturing will improve its production efficiency thanks to an Industry 4.0 Technology Implementation grant it received with help from Macomb County Planning and Economic Development.

The $25,000 matching grant helped the company purchase a high-tech vibratory automated unloading system. This new system will significantly increase throughput, increase capacity and help the company's competitive position within the marketplace.

Northern Industrial Manufacturing is a premier tier 1, 2 and 3 automotive supplier headquartered in Harrison Township. Since 1978, it has helped customers solve their toughest and most complicated supply chain challenges related to precision spacers, close tolerance washers and precision grinding and metal stamping needs.

The new unloading system will make up for capacity constraints and a lack of labor by loading and unloading a drying cobb machine faster and more efficiently. With the increase in efficiency, Northern Industrial Manufacturing expects to see a major increase in revenue. It plans to add three employees and retain 45 employees as a result of this project.

The company plans to have the new system installed by October 2024.
