Five companies honored for longtime commitment to Manufacturing Day

Macomb County has been celebrating Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) since 2013 when it first assembled

a group of CEOs from leading companies for a roundtable discussion about industry hurdles. Upon learning that there was a lack of young people expressing an interest in working in the industry, the county’s Department of Planning and Economic Development partnered with the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) to coordinate tours for students from every public high school in the county.

Marking the 10th annual year of a coordinated countywide celebration of careers in manufacturing - thought to be the largest in the nation - an estimated 16,000 young people have had a chance to see the industry in action and learn about the wide range of careers that support it.

At this year’s orientation breakfast, held Sept. 19 at the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD), five local companies were honored for their continuous support to Macomb County’s MFG Day. They are:

  • Fisher Dynamics, St. Clair Shores
  • Fori Automation, Shelby Township

  • The Paslin Company, Warren
  • PTI Engineered Plastics, Macomb Township
  • RCO Engineering, Roseville

“Manufacturing Day events did not exist in my high school days. I can only imagine what it would be like to peek inside different industries,” said PTI CEO Mark Rathbone. “As a young student preparing for a lifelong career, I am certain this day for students who participate in Manufacturing Day events around the country has a lifelong impact on their career choices. We look forward to playing host to students and educators onsite  again this year so they can see how products start from design through manufacturing and device assembly.”

The public is encouraged to be on the lookout for MFG Day banners displayed by 64 host sites who will welcome more than 2,000 students for a tour of their workplace during the first week of October.
