SET arrest in St. Clair Shores

Mount Clemens, MI – On 9/13/23, the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET) arrested Jeffery Tapert, 53-years-old, from Harrison Township, for his alleged involvement of the theft and sale of radar detectors from vehicles.

 

SET Detectives received information from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Detective Bureau that they suspected Tapert of multiple larcenies from a vehicle in several of the communities that the MCSO patrols. SET Detectives were conducting surveillance on the suspect when they witnessed him shatter the front driver side window of a Chevy Camaro. He then attempted to steal a radar detector from the dashboard of the vehicle. He was unsuccessful in removing the radar detector from the dashboard.

 

Tapert was taken into custody without incident.

 

The suspect was arraigned on September 15, 2023, at the 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores. He was charged with one count of Larceny from a Motor Vehicle (a five-year felony) and one count Malicious Destruction of Personal Property – less than $200.00 (a 93-day misdemeanor). Tapert was given a $20,000 bond, cash/surety.
