Mount Clemens, MI -  Today, a 13-year-old juvenile was denied bond in connection with making a school threat.

It is alleged that on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, a juvenile at Chatterton Middle School threatened to bring a gun to school to kill another student, following a fight the day before. The defendant also stated he had access to a gun.

The 13-year-old was charged with Intentional Threat to Commit Act of Violence Against School, School Employee or Students with Specific Intent to Carry Out or Overt Act (10 year felony).

Today, at a Preliminary Examination, Macomb County Chief Referee Linda Harrison denied bond based on the seriousness of the offense.  The juvenile will remain in the Juvenile Justice Center. He will also receive a mental health evaluation.  A Pre-Trial is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 2:00pm before Macomb County Referee George Keller.

“We take any threat made by a juvenile at school very seriously. Such actions not only endanger the safety of the student but also disrupt the entire educational environment. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, and we will vigorously pursue consequences to stop such behavior," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the people.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
