MSU Extension to host core pesticide applicator review and certification testing on May 31

Press Release

Michigan State University Extension (MSUE), in partnership with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the MSU Pesticide Safety Educator Program, are offering an in-person Core Manual Review Class followed by Core Pesticide Applicator Certification Testing on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center located at 2100 Pontiac Lake Road, Building 41, Pontiac, Michigan 48328.

This course consists of a 4-hour review of the National Pesticide Applicators Certification Core Manual. The review will be held in the morning and the MDARD exam will be given that afternoon. It is recommended that participants read and study the manual prior to the review. If you do not have a copy of the manual, the MSU Extension-Macomb County office located at 21885 Dunham Road, Suite 12, Clinton Township, Michigan 48036 has a limited number of copies available for purchase and advises calling the office at 586-469-6440 to check on availability.

Information on the course review fee as well as MDARD’s certification testing fees can be found on the Michigan State University registration page for this event or at https://events.anr.msu.edu/ and searching for “MDARD In-Person Core Testing and Core Review”. While it is preferable that registration occurs prior to the course, there is the option for limited walk-in registration as space permits. If you have any questions or would like more information on the Oakland County Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) Review, please contact MSU Extension Consumer Horticulture Educator David Lowenstein at lowenst6@msu.edu or 586-469-6085. Friday, May 31, 2024, will be the final MSUE Core Manual Review Class review session for 2024.
