Priorities
The Behavioral Health and Substance Use Workgroup's overall goal is to enhance the overall well-being and mental health of Macomb County community members by increasing awareness and accessibility of public health behavioral services. Our main priorities and objectives:
Objective 1: Increase awareness of available behavioral health services in Macomb residents.
Objective 2: By December 31, 2028 create and implement 5 awareness campaigns and conduct 3 awareness seminars in underserved communities.
Objective 3: By December 31, 2026, expand suicide prevention and mental health intervention programs offered in Spanish and Arabic.

ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) Mental health programs - ACCESS Behavioral Health offers a wide range of services for adults, children and families. Staff are multicultural and bilingual in English and Arabic.

Bilingual behavioral health and acculturation services - Chaldean Community Foundation offers counseling with licensed bilingual therapists. Services include individual, group and family therapy for Michigan residents ages 13 years and up, regardless of insurance status. The Breaking Barriers program helps adults with special needs.

Easterseals - Disability and community services and advocates for full equity, inclusion, and access for people with disabilities.

Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) - Public provider of mental health, substance use and developmental disability treatment services in Macomb County Michigan.

Macomb County Suicide Prevention Coalition - Promotes efforts to reduce the incidence of suicide and suicidal behavior.

Macomb Family Services, Inc. - Mental health and substance abuse services, as well as residential services for developmentally disabled adults.

United Way of Southeast Michigan (UWSEM) - Call 2-1-1 for assistance with basic needs like food or utilities.

Vet Center - Community-based counseling centers provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional counseling to eligible Veterans, service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families.
