Mount Clemens, MI -The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is actively involved in preventing threats, violence, weapons, and bullying in schools across Macomb County. Prosecutor Lucido in conjunction with “A Brighter Michigan” continues to spearhead a student video competition called “Knocking Violence Out of My School” to empower students to address these issues within their peer groups.
The 2024 “Knocking Violence Out of My School” video contest encouraged students to create videos addressing threats, violence, weapons, and bullying. This year’s winners were selected by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Juvenile Unit. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Juvenile Unit Chief Tonya Goetz said, “The quality of the submissions was very impressive and the winners should be commended for their creativity and hard work.”
Prosecutor Lucido personally met with all the winners of the competition and spoke with them about their inspiration for the videos and their future.
First place winner Jordan Serafimovski is a Junior at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School and he received a $1,000 prize. While meeting with Prosecutor Lucido, Jordan talked about mental health issues contributing to school violence and that other countries have less violence in schools. Great Job Jordan!
Roseville High School Senior Dalyace Griggs is the second place winner and she received a $750 prize. Dalyace plans to attend college in the fall to become a teacher. Congratulations Dalyace and good luck in your future endeavors.
Third place winner Noah Johnson is a Junior at L’Anse Creuse North and he received a $500 prize. Noah talked with Prosecutor Lucido about the inspiration behind his video and that students need to speak up and stop the silence. Keep up the good work Noah!
Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido and the entire Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office would like to thank all the students who submitted videos. You are all winners! "It is fantastic when students dedicate their time and effort to communicate a message peer-to-peer to end school threats, violence, weapons, and bullying. Everyone who submitted videos should be proud of themselves for advocating to stop the violence,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The winner’s school will also receive a Macomb County Prosecutor’s Hero Award so the students in that school know that there is a hero among them who is working to stop school violence and bullying. Thank you to all the administrators, principals, and teachers who helped make this competition a success.
