Bissell Empty the Shelters

BISSELL Pet Foundation is sponsoring adoption fees across the state of Michigan starting THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1 through SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 in efforts to assist animal shelters that are overcrowded. We are proud to be participating in hopes to encourage adoption opportunities for our homeless shelter pets!

With BPF funding, adoption fees are reduced, some of the adoption fees are completely SPONSORED! You can view our current adoptable pets and complete an adoption application here: https://animalcontrol.macombgov.org/AnimalControl-Adopt.

It is strongly recommended that you complete an application ahead of time. We will also be open for walk-ins from 10am-4pm M-F. We will also be open SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, from 10am - 2pm!

**Please also join us in the new pet adoption center from NOON-3PM at

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

  • For those who do not own their home, it is required that you bring proof of your rental/lease agreement with the pet addendum in order to finalize the adoption. The minimum adoption age is 18, so those who live with their parents will need their parents present to finalize the adoption.
  • We want to make the perfect match for your family, therefore we request that ALL family members in home, including children and dog(s) be present at the time of adoption. Please keep your dog(s) RESTRAINED/CONFINED outside of the adoption area until you are ready to meet the dog you are interested in, at which time a staff member will assist with proper introduction.
  • Macomb County Animal Control staff will be verifying proper vaccine and preventative care history on owned pets, as well as ensuring proper licensing laws have been followed for those applying to adopt. We want what's best for our shelter pets! It is a great idea to be prepared to adopt by bringing your pet’s current preventative care history.

All of the animals available for adoption are spayed/neutered, current on age/species appropriate vaccines, provided with prevention and microchipped. Dog license fees are NOT included in the adoption fee but are required for all Macomb County residents.

Please follow us on Facebook for updates on this event and to help get all of our homeless dogs and cats out of the shelter and into loving forever homes!
